Agriculture

The NSSCP policies and actions improve and enhance the North Shores agricultural sector by strengthening its economic conditions and infrastructure foundation.  The focus is on preserving agricultural lands for agricultural use, emboldening the North Shore economy, preserving the areaʻs rural character, and supporting Hawaiʻis food production and resiliency goals.  Accessory uses are permitted on agricultural land only when they do not diminish an agricultural operationʻs viability or productivity.  Agricultural impacts to communities and the environment are minimized and managed through careful planning, best practices, and targeted actions.   Projected impacts to agriculture from climate change are addressed through strategic planning for water supply and adaptive technologies.
