The accelerated coastal erosion at Kaʻōpala Bay is undermining the structural integrity of the Lower Honoapiʻilani Road, which poses major risks to underground and overhead utilities. The objective of this project is to develop a sustainable and resilient approach by implementing engineered solutions to protect the roadway and associated utilities through bank stabilization and shoreline protection efforts. This project builds on previous studies conducted by COM DPW, Munekiyo Hiraga, and Fukumoto Engineering between 2016 and 2022.
